COTTAGE REVIVAL
Woodstock, NY
May, 2024
For a private client in upstate New York, Nothing Studios was entrusted with the renovation of a quaint 1940s wooden cottage, located in an area rich with historical Dutch settlements. The region's heritage played a pivotal role in shaping the design approach, blending cultural influences with classic American design elements to create a unique, timeless space. The project aimed to update the cottage while respecting its historical roots— ensuring that every design choice reflected both the home’s past and its modern potential.
The space was reimagined with a thoughtful mix of contemporary updates and preservation of its original character. The floors were painted a soft sage green, a color choice inspired by the natural surroundings of the area, evoking a sense of tranquility and a pop of color that feels both bold and relaxed. Throughout the home, traditional materials were paired with modern touches, allowing the historical charm of the cottage to shine through while incorporating modern functionality. The renovation honors the legacy of the home and creates a space that feels both of its time and timeless in its design.
